Comfort features

​ŠKODA SPACEBACK features many electronic systems to enhance its level of comfort, functionality and safety even further.
Automatic Wiper/Light System
The automatic wiper system uses a rain sensor in the base of interior rear-view mirror to automatically activate wipers as well as to adjust their speed. The light sensor activates the car’s illumination automatically when the intensity of ambient light decreases below a specified value (for example when driving through a tunnel or at dusk).
Front and rear parking sensors
The system for signalling the distance from an obstacle is a welcome help, especially when navigating through tight spaces. The driver is then alerted not only by front and rear signals, but also visually on the display of the Swing or Bolero radio or Amundsen navigation system.​
The automatic climate control ŠKODA Climatronic climate control system provides the convenience of automatically maintained temperature in the car’s interior. The Climatronic uses various sensors and elements to monitor and adjust the temperature, direction and speed of the air flowing into the vehicle. For example the humidity sensor to reduce windshield fogging.​
Cruise control
​Does your right leg hurt on the long motorway drives? Do you like to drive on top of the speed limits, but don’t want to get over them? Then the cruise control is exactly what you need. By pressing a button, you will save the current speed and the cruise control will keep it until you step on the brake, clutch or you switch the cruise control off again.​​
KESSY – Keyless Entry, Start and exit SYstem
Open or close the door, start or stop the engine, all without having to search for your key? That is the comfort provided by the KESSY system. Simply pull the door handle (or push the boot button) and the vehicle will unlock automatically. Start the car by pushing the button located to the right of the steering column.
Hill Hold Control
The Hill Hold Control (HHC) allows for easy hill starts without the risk of unwanted backward roll or need to use of the handbrake. It is activated automatically when the hill gradient is more than 5%, both when driving forward or in reverse. When the driver releases the brake pedal after stopping on a hill, the HHC keeps the pressure in the brake system for 1 or 2 seconds. In this interval, you can set off easily without rolling.​​
Heated rear seats
There’s no reason to worry about cold months as passengers on the rear seats can enjoy the comfort of heated seats. Buttons to active the heating are placed on the armrest storage within the reach.
Rear view camera with washer
Providing you with comfort and orientation during a parking procedure, the Rear view Camera uses a camera located on the 5th door handle. Combined with ŠKODA infotainment radios and navigations with touchscreen, the system uses their displays to show the space behind the car and to indicate the driving line, based on the vehicle width.
Auto Light Assist
This system automatically turns the high beam off and on. Starting at speeds of 60 km/h, it automatically turns on the high beam when it is dark enough outside. If you are closing in on a vehicle ahead (or if there is an oncoming vehicle), the system automatically dims the headlights so as not to dazzle other road users.


Put it simply, range of engines for the SPACEBACK stands for driving pleasure and top environmental values. The SPACEBACK is available with three petrol and two diesel engines. These advanced power plants put out between 66 and 92 kW, while consuming mere 3.9 to 4.8 l/100 km.

Modern turbocharged engines with direct fuel injection – petrol TSI and diesel TDI units – deliver lower fuel consumption and emissions without forfeiting dynamic handling.

Direct fuel injection turbocharged engines have a flat torque curve over a wide rpm range. The turbocharging gives them ample power at low rpm, i.e. the level at which the engine is running for most of the time. In the lower rpm range, the engine is also quieter and features lower fuel consumption and emissions.

Direct fuel injection enhances the efficiency of fuel combustion and contributes to lower fuel consumption, thereby also lowering CO2 emissions. The alternative diesel engines are fitted with high-pressure common-rail injection. The diesel particulate filter also helps to reduce the amount of particles in the exhaust gasses.

Start-Stop system When the vehicle is stationary, the engine runs uselessly, while still consuming fuel and emitting pollutants. That’s why the Start-Stop system automatically switches the engine off after stopping the vehicle, reducing the fuel consumption of the engine. If driver stops the vehicle after certain period of driving, shifts into neutral, releases the clutch pedal (and other conditions are met), the engine switches off automatically. As soon as the driver presses the clutch to shift into a gear, the engine starts immediately.

Energy recovery Energy recovery turns kinetic energy back into usable electricity. During engine braking, the alternator supplies the electricity to appliances and charges the battery. This saves fuel, which would be otherwise used on these tasks. When the car is accelerating or driving steadily, the car uses the electricity stored in battery – therefore the alternator works at lighter load in this mode. The fuel supply is adjusted to the lower power use, which results in lower fuel consumption.
